    The second World of Warcraft expansion doesn't do anything for new players, but there's plenty of great content for anyone who's reached at least level 55.

    so people picking up this might not even be an active subscriber, the source of the buyers don't just come from the 11 million subscriber, but also player from the past who stopped subscribing.

    It's a new expansion. I haven't played for a year and a half, and now I'm back and ready to rumble.

    I don't understand why you think the game is getting ridiculous. All the new content looks fun and interesting to me....deathknights, inscription profession, seige warfare, ARTHAS....this expansion seems better than the Burning Crusade ever was to me.

    lol its funny that nobody denied the fact that the game is getting ridiculous, instead focusing on the subscriber numbers

    @Chickener:

    The reason people like WoW is because there's no end to it. If they didn't update it and add new goals, the hardcore players would quit, and the casuals would eventually reach the end of the line an quit. The reason why this game is so successful is because of the amount of content, not the lack thereof.

    Actually it doesn't count inactive accounts. 11 million is the number of active accounts. If you include inactive accounts, it's probably around 20 million or more....

    Proof(taken from the news bit about blizzard hitting 11 million):
    "World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last 30 days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards."
